Guidelines

This zine will focus on Aerith Gainsborough! There is no single theme or single game that this zine will focus on, entries from all from the original FFVII to the remake to Kingdom Hearts will be included! We will be accepting artists and writers as contributors, and this will be a non-profit, for charity zine.

Contributor Information and Requirements
As this zine will be will be for charity, mods, organizers or contributors, will be compensated with full bundles, including digital and physical zines and merch if printed.

Funding for the zine and all merch involved will be done during pre-orders. Funds will be used for zine production and merch production + shipping costs. Profits left over will be donated.

-Discord will be required for communication. If you do not have a Discord account, please know that you will need to make an account to participate in this zine.

With covid-19 and everything else happening in the world right now the production time for the zine is subject to change. As such we understand if you need time to finish your piece. We ask that mods be made aware of any circumstances that might slow production.

To keep interest in the zine during during production, contributors will be required to submit new works for the zine and keep them secret on any social media accounts. Previews of your pieces will be okay, but please refrain from revealing the full piece so that buyers can be excited to see new content!

Specific Contributor Requirements:

Artists:
Portrait canvas size orientation
5.75” x 8.75” (5.5” x 8.5” safe area with an extra bleed allowance of 0.125″ on all sides)
300 DPI
CMYK Format
Traditional art allowed provide it can be scanned and printed to the specifications listed above.

Merch artists will be assigned pieces based on their preferences and experiences. Merch ideas and production must be approved by mods and artists must be flexible to change if needed for desired format, dimensions or templates. (sizing for prints etc)

Writers:
2500, words or less for about 4-6 pages of story.
Must be okay with an editor to beta-read the piece. Editor can be either a mod or someone of your choosing with final approval by a mod.
Must be okay with format changes needed for final printing.
Final submission via Google Docs

At the moment we will likely be looking for:
30-35 Artists
6-8 Writers

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a theme for the Zine?
If there were an ocean of Aerith zines we would likely have a theme, but since unfortunately this is not the case, the theme is just "Aerith' haha
As such, content of Aerith as the main focus will be required but we can expand to other games such as Kingdom Hearts, Dissidia, AUs etc.

Can I include other characters?
Yes! Please do! We would love to see Aerith interacting with her friends and loved ones. The focus should be on Aerith as her own person, so we don't want to favor one relationship over others. With that being said we want to include content of her with others since she's an important person to everyone. We're hoping for content involving her friendship and guidance to other characters, this includes non-romantic ships as well as of her with people like Marlene, Elmyra etc.

Can I do the cover art?
When we open up contributor apps there will be a section about the cover. Should you be interested, we will consider your work for the cover once applications are completed.

If I want to do more than one piece for the zine is that okay?
We want to make sure that those who are accepted are able to contribute at least one piece each. This applies to all types of content, writers, artists and merch artists. Additional pieces could be available based on how the production of the zine is going. If you want to do more than one, please make sure that you can complete these pieces by the deadline needed to publish the zine.

What are the content guidelines?

AUs and other games are accepted. Works with her in Kingdom Hearts, Tactics, etc are okay.

There will not be NSFW content. We want to keep the zine SFW so that as many people can enjoy it as possible! This includes sexual content, violence and gore.
Depictions of Aerith's death, or jokes being made of it, will not be accepted, but content alluding to it (her in the lifestream/lake) are fine.

We felt this was well suited for the message that Final Fantasy VII tries to impart and
